Goodbye to Beigeland (version 4.0) |
My grandmother used to collect barite “rose rocks,” an unusual mineral found in central Oklahoma. They remain a touchstone memory for me, and a symbol of both place and rootlessness. There's a Cherokee legend that these crystals formed from the tears of those who survived the forced migration from their homeland in the southeast. Thanks to Rick Beresford and Eric Waters for critique and suggestions on the songs. Thanks to my wife, Leona for inspiration, suggestions, and most of all patience.
