I woke up this morning, found my state had turned red
They had some kind of election, you know my state turned red
I got the Red State Blues, think I’ll go back to bed

We got to tax the poor folk just to feed the rich
Yeah we’ve got to tax the poor folk just to feed the rich
We got voodoo and values, can’t tell which is which

You talk air pollution, they don’t give you a chance
You talk global warming, you don’t get a chance
But talk about your evolution, you must be from France

We got a red sky at morning, got tons of red ink
My eyes are turning red I think I’ll go and have a drink
I wish I’d a listened when they said “choose or lose”
Got the down & dirty deep South hanging chad Red State Blues

I got ten or twelve handguns to protect myself
I got automatic rifles to protect myself
Seems like everyone’s shooting at everybody else

Whenever I think about Iraq and Viet Nam
Yeah if I start to worry about Iraq and Viet Nam
I just ask myself, who would Jesus bomb?

I talked to the Savior, he said we’re going to win
Had a talk with the Savior, he said we’re going to win
Said he’s coming back down here, couldn’t say just when

I got my blue collar got my blue suede shoes
My blue eyes are crying every time I read the news
But I don’t have to live with blacks, homos, and Jews
I just have to live with, these old Red State blues
